To be honest, I primarily use my Zojirushi rice cooker for cooking plain white rice. This is a great accompaniment for many meals but is not a meal in itself. So if you are looking for inspiration for exciting ways to use your rice cooker, thenThe Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook may interest you. It has well over 200 recipes for the rice cooker. Many of these of course involve rice while there are many that do not. The book shows how to prepare vegetables, soups and even desserts in your rice cooker.
This is the best rice cooker cookbook that I own. That said, it is the only rice cookbook that I own! What I like about the book though is the sheer number and range of recipes that it contains. Usually when I use my rice cooker I just cook simple Japanese white rice (a.k.a. japonica). White rice goes well with almost any kind of meal. However to turn your rice into a main dish, the recipes in this book are excellent.
I purchased the Kindle version of this book and it does not have any pictures of the recipes. My understanding is that the print version does not actually contain many/any pictures of the dishes that are described. For me, this is a definite drawback.
Living in Japan there are a range of Japanese style rice dishes that can be prepared. This book has more of an international flavor and is great for using as is and also for getting inspiration for your own recipes.
