Zojirushi NS-TGC10 · Sanyo ECJ-HC55S
Both the Zojirushi NS-TGC10 and the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S are Micom rice cookers. This means that they are Micro Computerized. In other words, they have a microchip inside them that controls the cooking operation. It can alter both the length of the cooking cycle as well as the temperature inside the cooking bowl. This helps it produce the best rice it is capable of making.
There are some similarities as well as quite a few differences between these machines. First of all they are both produced by Japanese companies. They are mid-sized rice cookers and have a capacity of 5.5 cups. This means that they can cook enough rice to feed around ten people. Of course they can both cook a wide variety of rices.
As for the differences, the Sanyo machine is probably a bit more versatile. It comes with a range of inner cooking pans. It includes a steamer tray, a dish for making tofu and a slow cooker pot and lid. This is in addition to the rice cooking bowl and inner lid. The Zojirushi on the other hand has just the rice cooking bowl. However with the NS-TGC10 you are able to make cakes in your rice cooker.
If you buy a Zojirushi NS-TGC10 it would cost you a bit more than if you buy a Sanyo ECJ-HC55S. However just looking at the technical specifications it is hard to see why. It is hard to see which one is the best rice cooker without actually getting to taste the rice that they make. I have only ever made rice personally with Zojirushi rice cookers. I know first hand just how good it can taste. My suspicion is that when cooking just straight rice, the Zojirushi machine may well be able to produce superior textured tasting rice. Otherwise there would hardly be any reason to choose to get the Zojirushi machine over the Sanyo. Unfortunately though this is just a hunch. I do not know for sure.
These rice cookers are available for the lowest price online on Amazon. So whether you decide to purchase a Zojirushi NS-TGC10 or the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S you can compare prices to see who has the best deal.
